BOB WINS BIG AT CHARITY AWARDS

Band of Builders walked away from this year’s prestigious Third Sector Awards with four trophies – sparking wild celebrations for our charity and all the partners who joined us for the event, which was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in Central London.

We were shortlisted for six awards – which is a feat in itself – at the event, which is dubbed by some as the BAFTAs of the charity sector.

We rubbed shoulders alongside some of the country’s biggest charities at the prestigious event, which celebrated the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations operating in the third sector, recognising their tireless efforts and transformative impact.

To our delight, BoB won Corporate Partnership of the Year – Small for our partnership with Jewson – to which the judges said: “This was a fantastic partnership that set about targeting and supporting a specific community that might not always be open to talking about mental health – and it delivered in spades.”

There wasn’t a dry eye on our tables when it was announced that our CEO Gavin Crane had won the Rising Chief Executive Award. The judges said: “There is no doubt Gavin Crane lives and breathes his charity Band of Builders – and is a vital cog in its growth and sustainability. Having worked ‘on the tools’ since school, rising from volunteer to chief executive, Gavin’s passion for the construction industry shines through strongly. An inspiring personal story with a positive impact upon a whole industry.”

We also received two highly commended awards for Small Charity of the Year and Small Charity, Big Achiever.

There were euphoric scenes at the end of the awards when the BoB team, along with guests from ardent supporters and sponsors Talasey, CT1 and, of course, Jewson, took to the stage to pose for photographs before disappearing to a local pub to continue celebrating the award wins.

Reflecting on the event, Gavin posted the following message on LinkedIn: “Friday was a very emotional and overwhelming day. To be shortlisted in six categories at the Third Sector Awards was quite a feat, given the calibre of organisations also shortlisted for the valuable work they do, yet I sit here now brimming with joy and pride as I share with you the news of our recognition. Our team’s unwavering dedication, passion and commitment to making a positive impact on the construction industry led to Band of Builders winning multiple awards.”

He said the best thing about the event was sharing this experience with colleagues, members of the Board of Trustees, long-serving volunteers and partners.

Gavin summed up by saying: “Reflecting on this achievement, I am reminded of the power of purpose-driven work and the limitless possibilities when many share a common goal. As I take the weekend to allow these achievements to sink in, come Monday, we will set our sights on the future, gearing up for more opportunities to learn, grow and make a difference. Thank you.”
